It doesn’t seem real that it’s been 21 years now. I graduated from college in 1989. It’s astonishing. It was a day that will live in our memory thanks, in part, to Pres. Ronald Reagan.

I think the bottom line is we should end all wars. This is never a good thing. In any part if the world there should be peace. But of course November 9, 1989 — Freedom For Millions we should really celebrate it. Thank you for this inspiring post.

I once had a German friend named Ingo who introduced me to life in Germany and I never really understood the significance of the fall of the Berlin Wall until I saw a slab of it in Annapolis. It was full of graffiti , testament to the lives of those affected by this wall. I’m always on the lookout for anecdotes about this wall ever since. Do you have one?

I agree there is much to celebrate. “Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall” those words still resonate with my family who use to live 2 kilometers from “Checkpoint Charlie.” While my family is free and are now American citizens there are many people that are still getting suppressed under cruel regimes in other countries…while I celebrate every day of my freedom one must realize there is much more work to be done…

A comparison between the EU and USA would be relavant though NATO is not comparable. They are completely different types of organizations and it’s like comparing apples to bananas. If Europe ever gets their act together, which won’t happen, then the EU has the potential to become a major player on the world stage. I don’t see this happening because the EU is composed of too many countries that want to keep their identity separate.
