According to our Dear Matt Mullenweg and/or Andrew Nacin, there’s one new blog created each and every second (among other interesting things). Yes, that’s 60 new blogs per minute, 3,600 new blogs per hour, 86,400 new blogs per day.

Captivating stat. Yet my guess is that 99% of them don’t know how to build an Internet business…

That sounds like a lot of blogs.

That is a lot of blogs. But I wonder how many of them actually gain traction – eg. if it’s a personal blogger, whether that person just keeps on blogging for like a year or more or whether they give up after a month type thing.

Phew!! That’s far too many to read!
And still, there appears to be no overall directory for blogs and bloggers .. just a few hundred to a few thousand dotted about here and there in various clubs and communities. Responsible bloggers as a whole provide quite a good service to members of the general public looking up all kinds of facts and figures about varying types of information. What they get though is still very random .. I wonder if someone will ever take on the job of creating a full blogging directory?

The most saddest thing about blogs and bloggers are those who spend hours making a wonderful blog full of useful peaces of information then for some obscure reason delete the lot rather than leaving it on the Net as a useful tool to others. Now you may argue and say well that would mean that they have to pay to keep it up .. but no they could simply transfer the contents onto Google Blogger or WordPress or many more free hosts. If nothing else at least this would prove that they haven’t wasted a large amount of time for nought.

  5. I would say that not only do 99% of them not know how to build an internet business with a blog, but probably over half of them think they can and are getting bad advice on how to achieve their goals – i.e. make money with blogs! I see this all the time!

  6. That is a crazy number of blogs! I wish newbies the best, I really do but in reality they usually gain false information.  When I started my first blog about 4 years ago, I had a lot to learn but did not give up.  Didn’t know what a blog was until I jumped in.  Unfortunately now there is so much information that is misleading that people probably get confused and give up.  I know a few people contacted me about starting a blog and I told them I would help them but then they did not do anything more with it.  Maybe a couple of posts and that was it.

I would say I have to agree with your guess that 99% of them don’t know how to build an Internet business.

  7. Hi,
Yes and those 99% do such blogging because they are still not aware of  Internet marketing techniques. So to fulfill the traffic need on their site they utilize this concept. But Internet marketing is also a good concept to drive traffic on site. Thanks
